In 2001, Mark moved from Boston to Phoenix, and met Emilio Castillo, the leader of the legendary soul band “Tower of Power”. They have been great friends and songwriting buddies ever since. In addition to co-writing songs that may end up on “Tower of Power’s” upcoming CD, Emilio contributed a great deal to the songs for Mark’s CD “Lookin’ At Tomorrow”. “T.O.P.” has always blown him away, so it was a real treat for Mark to include some of Tower’s band members on his first CD, and he is more than thrilled with the final results.
Mark Dolin is a singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Discovering the saxophone as a child put music at the forefront of Mark’s life. This new found enthusiasm evoked both emotion and inspiration, and progressed into actual songwriting in the 1990’s. The songwriting became the poetic lure that breathed life into his music. Mark’s gift with the saxophone rouses great passion, but the real power is in his writing. He recently completed his debut CD, “Lookin’ At Tomorrow”. The title is derived from the song “You’ll See the Sun Again”. This song illustrates the concept of keeping a positive attitude following a bad relationship. “The Parkin’ Lot Hang”, a funky horn-driven song is about his carefree days in high school. The album also offers a couple of rock selections in, “Your Day’s Comin’”, and “Don’t Ever Stop Now”. “Baby Don’t You Get It” and “Take Me Away” will take you away with smooth R & B rhythms, and both allude to lovin’ the one you’re with.
Mark received a B.A. in Music Performance from WV Wesleyan University, and then relocated to Boston to pursue the dream. There he attended the renowned Berklee School of Music. After college Mark played with a popular cover band called “Search Party”, covering Paul Simon, Buster Poindexter, The Neville Brothers and UB40. The band also showcased as contestants on the hit TV show, "Star Search”, and released a CD entitled “Days of Magic.” In the early '90s Mark played sax and keys for a phenomenal Boston band called “Eye2Eye”, where he wrote several songs for their second and third CD’s. The band took home “Best R&B Band” at the Boston Music Awards for three consecutive years! The group traveled to Europe, L.A. and New England, playing in numerous large halls and venues.
